Collaborative partnership for people building something that doesn't have a template.

Most coaching assumes you know what you're building and need accountability structures to get there. This work assumes something more interesting — that you're in the middle of figuring it out, that the vision is real but the narrative around it is still forming, and that what you need isn't a framework but a thinking partner who can hold both the strategic and the existential dimensions at once.

I work with founders, artists, independent practitioners, and creative leaders who are at an inflection point. The business is working but the meaning is unclear. The creative practice is alive but the context has shifted. The vision exists but the story you're telling about it — to yourself, to your audience, to the market — isn't landing.

The Approach

I bring narrative practice into strategic work. That means we pay close attention to the story your venture is living inside, the futures it's oriented toward, and the identity questions that inevitably surface when you're building something that reflects your values. We work with scenario thinking to pressure-test assumptions and open the aperture on what's possible. We work with narrative to sharpen the story you're telling and align it with what you're actually trying to build.

This is neither therapy nor traditional coaching. It's closer to cultural architecture — the work of designing the conditions in which something can grow.

Who This Is For

Entrepreneurs and founders at inflection points. Creative practitioners renegotiating the terms of their practice. Independent consultants or practitioners trying to build a body of work, not just a book of business. Leaders in transition between chapters.

You should be someone who thinks in systems, tolerates ambiguity, and is more interested in getting it right than getting it fast.

“I have known Dr. Chris Hoff, LMFT for several years and have found great comfort within his personal and professional mentoring. Dr. Hoff has a way of listening to you with grace and care, which allows you the opportunity to witness the practice of mindfulness being brought into each moment with compassion and wisdom. Dr. Hoff has inspired me in many ways, but his Creative Living Workshop helped me most recently by providing the motivation needed to bring the “creative” tools back into my business and community, Open Door Pomona. I have seen growth in my ability to create an exciting and original business plan which has impacted my community in a positive and inspiring way. I would recommend working with Dr. Hoff if you are looking for an inspiring, supportive, and professional doctor that will provide the tools needed to improve your personal and professional life.”
